The dragon sparkled in the sunlight, and Lina was curious.“What’s this, Papa?” she asked. “It’s part of the Lunar New Year celebration,” father said. “It’s a special time to welcome the new year with family, food, and traditions. Oh! We almost forgot—it’s tomorrow!”Lina wondered what it would be like to celebrate Lunar New Year. The next day, Lina was playing outside when her friend Tian ran up to her. “Lina! Would you like to celebrate the Lunar New Year with us tonight? It’s going to be fun, with lots of food and a dragon dance! ”Lina’s eyes lit up. “I’d love to! But I don’t know much about it.” “That’s okay,” Tian said. “I’ll tell you! It’s about family, and showing kindness to others.” That evening, Lina and her parents went to Tian’s house. Red lanterns hung everywhere, and the table was full of delicious food “Red brings good luck,” Tian explained. “That’s why there’s so much red during Lunar New Year!” After dinner, Lina watched the dragon dance. Everyone cheered. At the end of the night, Tian gave Lina a small red envelope. “What’s inside?” Lina asked. “Open it tomorrow,” Tian said. “It’s for good luck!” The next morning, Lina opened the envelope and found a shiny coin inside. She thought about the celebration and how kind Tian had been to invite her. Lina smiled and promised to share kindness in the new year. After dinner, Lina watched the dragon dance. Scorching summer days stretched before us. Suddenly, my brother Suraj burst in, panicked. Someone kept calling and hanging up! Turns out, he accidentally dialed the police, fearing my wrath more than the authorities. The phone blared again – it was Grandpa, worried about the police and firefighters outside our house! Apparently, our identically numbered neighbor had the "fire." Chaos ensued as Dad received a call about the false alarm. Terrified, we hid until the police arrived. A sheepish apology letter later, and all was (mostly) forgiven. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we laughed about the crazy day. Once upon a time, in a town named Hamelin, there was a big problem. The town had too many rats. They ran through the streets and made everyone unhappy. The people tried to get rid of the rats but nothing worked. One day, a man dressed in colorful clothes arrived. He was called the Pied Piper because he played magical tunes on his flute. The Pied Piper played a tune on his flute. The rats followed him. The Pied Paper walked towards the river. The rats fell into the water and were never to be seen again. The people were thrilled that the rats were gone. But the town leaders refused to thank and pay Pied Piper. They broke their promise. The Pied Piper felt sad. He decided to teach the town a lesson. He played a different tune on his flute. This time all the children of the town followed him. They followed him out of town, through a secret door in a mountain, and into a magical land. From that day the town of Hamelin had no children.

One bright sunny day up at the cabin, Waylon wanted to go on an hiking adventure. across flowers that were yellow, blue, pink, orange and purple. Along the way in the magical forest, we saw ants, grasshoppers, and colorful butterflies. The birds were singing to us as we walked the trail. We came across heather-filled meadows showcasing summer alpine wildflowers, blueberries, and huckleberries. There were black bears eating blueberries on the side of the trail. The sun was shining, and the air was clear and crisp. We talked about all of the plants, insects, and animals we saw on are adventure up the mountain. Papa was very proud that Waylon wanted to share his adventures with him. On are way down the mountain we laughed and played in the forest. We climbed trees and large rocks as we were hiking down. We talked about our next great adventure and how much we love each other and the playground that Mother nature has provided for us.

"You remembered!" he whispered. his voice choked with happy tears. Mama Bear chuckled. "Of course, we remembered, sleepyhead! We just wanted to make it a really special surprise.
